Elisabet Perona Vico (Puigcerdà, 1994) graduated in Biology from the University of Girona (UdG) and specialized in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine. She began her research career in molecular microbiology and electromicrobiology while completing her doctoral thesis. Her research focuses on understanding at a fundamental level how microorganisms can be technologically exploited due to their versatile metabolism and wide range of chemical compound production, as well as uncovering the electron transfer mechanisms underlying reactions during microbial electrosynthesis. Her postdoctoral research experience is mainly practical, working in the laboratory, designing experiments, applying protocols, analyzing results, and critically discussing them for further exploitation or publication. Research has allowed her to be in constant learning in a multidisciplinary environment where planning, teamwork, and critical thinking are her priorities. Concerned and involved in education, during the last academic year (2023/24), she will actively participate in teaching activities, besides having been involved in scientific outreach activities for over 6 years.
