The main objective of JURECRIRPO is to improve judicial remedies that ensure the justiciability of defence rights in the European criminal justice area. To this end, the project aims to develop a European blueprint for the right to judicial review such as protected by the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention of Human Rights. More specifically, the study intends to:

-             Map the European dimension of judicial remedies insofar as defendant's rights vilations are concerned; in particular, the research will analyse the 'Stokholm road map' directives (approved or proposed) in order to assess the existing harmonization of judicial review across the Member States.

-             Gain in-depth knowledge of existing legal remedies and practices in six selected Member States(Luxembourg, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Poland).

-             Address critical issues rising from the right to judicial review with regard to vertical and horizontal cooperation instruments in criminal matters.

-             Elaborate proposals for legislative measures and best practices in order to further improve the European fundamental rights protection both at national and transnational level.
