The “Abay Mado Project 2019: new methodologies for competences learning in the Abay Mado rural school (Ethiopia)” is being developed successfully. Team members of the project travelled to Ethiopia in December 2019 to start up the project: Dr. Jesús Planella, professor of the Department of Physics (UdG) and coordinator of the technical team; Dr. Marianna Soler, professor of the Department of Physics (UdG) and coordinator of the training team; and Carles Adell, student of the Master in Industrial Engineering (UdG) and member of Engineers Without Borders. The enterprise “Solar Casa Energy” provided solar panels to be installed in the Abay Mado rural school to ensure electricity availability during the development of the project and in the future. During the stay of the University of Girona team members, solar panels were successfully installed and innovative training methodologies were transferred to the teachers of the Ethiopian school. Currently, teachers are implementing these methodologies with their students. Next April, Dr. Planella will travel again to Abay Mado school to evaluate the overall accomplishment of the goals of the project.
