Description:
Introduction to the different manufacturing methods for composite materials. Manufacturing of laminates. Thermal effects. Simulation methods for manufacturing of composite materials. Mechanical tests for characterisation of composite materials. Tests for thermal characterisation. Advanced testing techniques. Class sessions will be according to the specified timetable and because of the practical character of the course on-site attendance is required.

Grading

Report a feasible production plan to obtain the case study part.

Specific criteria for the "No show" grade:
An "absent" mark (NP) will be given to those students who have not delivered any of the activities included in the course.

Single Assessment:
The student will be asked to prepare a project report on the design, manufacturing, inspection and testing of a composite laminate based on the material delivered during the course.

Minimum requirements to pass:
The minimum mark to pass the course is 5.0 over 10

Mentorship

Tutorships can be either on-line or face-to-face. Electronic mail can be also used to solve questions or doubts and set tutorship appointments out of the specified times frames.

Communication and interaction with students

Communication with students will be via e-mail and the News forum of the course’s Moodle. Individual on-line meetings will be possible for a personalised monitoring.
