- A European legal tradition beyond the characteristic domains of private law: Roman criminal law, outline of Roman criminal prosecution and of Roman criminal proceedings between the Twelve Tables and the Later Roman Empire. Syllabus
1. Hereafter the table of contents of the recommended book by Prof. Olivia Robinson, 'The Criminal Law of Ancient Rome' (London 1995), will serve as a division of the subjects studied by the students who attend the course. They will prepare a paper on one of the chapters of their choice.

DEVELOPMENT OD THE COURSE/DESENVOLUPAMENT DE L'ASSIGNATURA
The students will receive an outline of aspects of the European legal tradition to be studied throughout the semester and will prepare a paper (under supervision) on a subject of their choice. ERASMUS students may add a section on the legal tradition of their own country.
El desenvolupament de l'assignatura es repartirà entre una presentació general de la tradició jurídica europea a analitzar al llarg del semestre i el comentari de temes i casos per part dels alumnes, que hauran rebut tutories prèvies. Els alumnes ERASMUS podran afegir un comentari basat en el dret del seu país.
EVALUATION/AVALUACIÓ
Students should attend, in person or virtually, the course regularly (at least 80% of the sessions), prepare a paper under supervision and participate in the debates that follow the presentation of papers.
Els alumnes hauran d’assistir, de manera presencial o virtual, regularment a classe (mínim 80% de les sessions), preparar una ponència tutoritzada en els termes expressats més amunt i participar en els debats que seguiran les presentacións dels seus companys

Single Assessment:
Students must specifically apply to the Dean of the Faculty for this sort of evaluation. This 'single-exam-evaluation' will consist in an interview with the Professor based on the previous stydy of the recommended book of Olivia Robinson, 'The Criminal Law of Ancient Rome' (London 1995), where the candidate must develop an outline of the following topics:

Remarks
Note for ERASMUS students: it is strongly recommended that ERASMUS students (especially Italians) taking the Roman Law course also register in Roman Legal Tradition I in order to have the credits corresponding to Roman Law recognized in your home faculty.
Nota para alumnos ERASMUS: Es muy recomendable para aquellos alumnos erasmus que estéis matriculados en Derecho romano que compaginéis esta asignatura con la optativa de "Tradición jurídica europea I". Esta asignatura optativa os puede ser muy útil para la convalidación de créditos de derecho romano en vuestras universidades de origen.
