Manuela Hidalgo is Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University
of Girona. She teaches different subjects in the Chemistry and Environmental
Science BSc programs and in the master program of Water Science and Technology.
She also participates in the Master of Applied Chromatographic Techniques,
being the responsible of this program at the University of Girona.
She graduated in Chemistry
from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1986) and received her PhD in
Chemistry (1991) from the same university. She undertook post-doctoral research visits at the University of
California at Berkeley and the Massachusetts Institute of Tecnology (MIT). Dr.
Hidalgo currently leads the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Research
Group at the University of Girona. She
has co-authored more than 120 research papers in the areas of Analytical
Chemistry, Separation and Environmental Science, and supervised 11 PhD theses.
Her research interests include sample treatment methodologies, chromatographic
techniques, atomic spectrometry (ICP and XRF) and the mobility and fate of
