Emma Company i Masó (Girona, 1998) pursued her Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology at the University of Girona. After completing her degree (2020), she pursued a Master's degree in Water Science and Technology at the University of Girona, obtaining her degree on July 30, 2021. In that same year, she joined as a technician at the Institute of Environment until October 31, 2022. In 2019, she joined the Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (LEQUiA) as a internship student and bachelor's thesis. She began working on the removal and recovery of nutrients from the sludge of an urban wastewater treatment plant. A year later, also at LEQUiA, she continued, within the framework of the master's thesis, the study of the recovery of nutrients from pig manure. This study led to the start of her doctoral studies on November 1, 2022, under the supervision of Dr. Jesús Colprim Galceran and Dr. Albert Magrí Aloy. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. as a Pre-doctoral Researcher in Training (IF_UdG) and is pending to conduct a research stay (May - November 2024) at the WETSUS technological center (Netherlands).
