We are located at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the University of Girona, where five degree courses are taught: Social Education, Teacher Training, Education, Psychology and Educational Psychology. The study plan of each includes a practicum which requires students to spend a significant period of time in a centre of practicums where they are able to develop the skills necessary for their chosen professions: teachers, social educators, educational psychologists, educators or psychologists.

The coordinator for each of the degree courses and the practicum coordinator work together to maintain both the high quality of the practicums and a wide selection of centres. We are strengthening our ties with the professional world everyday, convinced that our work at the university should be beneficial to the professions and to future professionals.

Continual research into ways of improving our work is not new at our Faculty; it is the result of an ongoing perseverance along old lines of thought to which we are deeply committed. In 2000 we began the process of improving the practicums through constant adjustments as required so that they continue to be fundamental and motivating experiences.

We also have an international commitment and provide opportunities for those students so inclined to complete their practicums and projects in centres of practicums in other Catalan-speaking regions, in other parts of Spain or in other countries of Europe and the world, provided that some minimal conditions are met.
