The UdG World

The University of Girona is involved in the daily lives of students through a network that also takes into consideration ex-students and, in addition, creates synergies and a mutual willingness to collaborate with other organisations and institutions of the Girona area.

The students of the University of Girona are represented at the highest level by the Student Council, an organisation recognised in the Statutes and made up of student delegates freely chosen by their classmates. The Council, in addition to offering various student services, intervenes decisively in educational policy on issues that affect it.

At the same time, student associations exist to serve the many interests of the students of the UdG. From political organisations to cultural action groups, from associations whose goals are to establish links with the business world or with other European associations to others that bring students together according to religious beliefs or similar leisure interests, the extra curricular activities of students are very diverse and revitalising.

Ex students of the UdG do not lose contact with the institution. They can continue enjoying the advantages of having access to the library and can also use their email accounts. Once they have completed their university studies, many of them strengthen ties with the University of Girona through lifelong education activities, master, doctoral and other graduate programmes, and specialised courses.

The Social Council of the University of Girona has fomented the creation of an association of ex students, PostScriptum (http://web.udg.edu/postscriptum), to develop ties with them and strengthen the mutual relationship. This association offers a wide range of advantages and organises both academic and leisure activities.

The University of Girona has a historic tie, of institutional loyalty and social commitment, with the democratic institutions that have given it support over the years. At the same time, it maintains close collaborative ties with the main economic and business interests of the country. As a result of this combination of interests, various foundations are working to improve the quality of university teaching, to carry out research that considers social fabric needs, to better integrate students into the working world and to do an in-depth study of the educational work to be done at all levels and in a continuous way at the UdG.

The Foundations and other organisations of this type are:
