The evaluation involves several activities: 1) Lab/computer sessions and continuous assessment (L&CA): The students will work in teams inside the lab groups. Reports and exercices have to be delivered at the professor request. The team must have the report and the exercices completed in the prescribed dates (usually the next session), otherwise they’ll get a 0 grade for that task. It is necessary to participate in all the lab/computer sessions and also present all the reports/exercices. The team is responsible to keep a folder with all this content available at each session. The grade is individual: each member of the group will have to answer questions related to the report /exercices. 2) A project (PRO) consisting on the design and construction of the model of a mechanism. This task will also be done in teams (can be the same of L&CA). Everybody is responsible for the group, though, and care will be taken to detect and penalise non collaborative members. This activity will involve some presentations before the professor in a tutorial session. It is not allowed to present the reports after the date prescribed by the professor. 3) There will be two final exams. The final grade will be calculated as the biggest grade out of • 0,6*FE+0,2*L&CA+0,2*PRO • FE The final exam is the only evaluation activity that can be retaken. In this case, the student can sit the second final exam. The result of this second exam combines with the other grades as has been explained for the first exam. Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:The student will get a "No Presentat (NP)" grade if he/she doesn't sit at any of the final exams and doesn't participate in any of the continuous assessment activities or abandons them before November 1th.
Lab/Computer room sessions: Three of the sessions will be done with the ANSYS software in a computer room of the School. Session description: 1- WM2D: Checking the design of a linkage. 2- Matlab: Synthesis, cognates. 3- Cam design. Simulation and experience a model. 4- Lego Mindstorms: Building a model. 5- Matlab: Modeling a robot motion. Language: The Moodle site of this course will contain enough information for the student to follow the contents and do the programmed activities. This documentation will be in English. Teaching, however, will be done in Catalan.
