On 27 January 2026, Héctor M. Manrique delivered the talk “When television and cinema create misinformation and false myths about autism” at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB). The lecture explored how audiovisual media often promote simplified or inaccurate portrayals of autism, shaping public understanding and reinforcing stereotypes. Drawing on insights from psychology and communication studies, Manrique discussed the social impact of these representations and highlighted the importance of critical, evidence-based approaches to neurodiversity in public discourse. The event was part of the seminar series at the Master en Competència Lingüística i Literàtia at the UIB.
