Communication with the students will take place in lessons, through the moodle announcement tool and forums.

Observacions

Goals of the course
The main goal of the course is to provide an overview of several fields related with generation of energy where chemistry and catalysis play a central role. This includes:
- The generation of energy in biological systems (photosynthesis) and how it inspires chemical processes (artificial photosynthesis)
- Chemical processes of energy production and storage at the large scale, including new energy vectors like hydrogen
- Efficient energy production in fuel cells and catalytic combustions
- Solar cells, complementing the chemical aspects (materials for solar cells) with the necessary ideas from physics, electricity and engineering (design aspects)
In all cases we will consider the main current research challenges.
