Resolution of proposed exercises throughout the course and evaluation of the results and reports. The final grade for the course is the weighted average of the assessment activities:
FM= 0.4*PE + 0.6*SE
where
PE = Practical short exercises
SE = Simulations and engineering cases
For a given category (i.e. PE, SE), the student will have to present individual original reports covering all the contents of the course that will be corrected, marked and returned to the student to improve the assimilation of the different concepts of the course.
Students must deliver at least 80% of the proposed PE assignments to achieve the maximum qualification in this part. Otherwise, this part will be qualified with a 0. The qualification of the SE part will be determined as the average of all the SE marks.
All assignments and exercises that are set and not submitted within the established deadlines will be graded with a 0 and cannot be resubmitted or retaken.
Evaluation activities cannot be retaken.
The use of AI tools is permitted for information search, computer code generation, the preparation of a first draft of documents to be delivered or presented, and the linguistic improvement of texts. However, the student is fully responsible for this, and must understand, validate and be able to justify the proposals used through AI. This justification will be verified through specific questions in oral defenses or similar activities; the inability to adequately defend the presented contents will imply a negative assessment in the evaluation of the activity (with a non-pass of the activity or a penalty of the grade). Regarding the use of AI in writing texts, the student is required to carry out a critical reading of the results, avoiding repetitions and unnecessarily long texts.
If, during the grading process, the teaching staff detects reasonable indications of fraud, they may classify the activity as fraudulent.
Fraudulent conduct shall include, among others, the use of unauthorized information or devices, the use of false information, impersonation, total or partial plagiarism, as well as the buying or selling of exams, problems, assignments, FEA models or coursework.
The detection of fraudulent conduct will result in a grade of 0 for the corresponding assessment activity. Furthermore, depending on the nature of the fraud, the School’s Directorate may initiate the procedures established in Law 3/2022, of 24 February, on university coexistence, and apply the measures set out in Article 21 of the regulations governing the assessment and grading processes of students at the University of Girona.
The teaching staff reserves the right to validate the grade of an activity in order to verify its authorship and grading, in accordance with the course’s assessment methodology and the applicable regulations.
Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
Students that fail to deliver 50% of the assignments or more will receive a No Show (NP) mark.
Avaluació única:
Students who wish to opt for single assessment must request it by following the procedure and timetable established by Escola Politècnica Superior. The student will be asked to prepare a project report on the modelling and simulation of a structural part using the Finite Element Method and covering the main aspects of the course.
Requisits mínims per aprovar:
The minimum mark to pass the course is 5.0 over 10
Students can arrange individual or group tutorships, mainly on-site but on-line will be also possible. There is a special forum in the webpage of the course for posting doubts and questions, so solutions will be shared with everyone. E-mail can be also used to solve questions or doubts and set tutorship appointments.
