DESCRIPTION OF CONTINUOUS EVALUATION PLAN

The continued evaluation plan consists of three components: (a) a written open-book exam, in which the students must apply the basic concepts included in the syllabus (60%); (b) participation in class (20%); and (c) in-class case resolution (20%).

(a) Exam. The exam is a written, open-book exam held on the last day of the course. “Open-book” means that, during the exam, students may bring a printed copy of course bibliography and of their personal notes. Only printed materials will be allowed; digital materials and the use of any electronic devices will be prohibited.

(b) Participation in class. It will be assessed on the basis of active engagement in the discussions held in each session.

(c) In-class case resolution. In each session, a case study relating to that class’s theoretical content will be presented together with a set of related questions. Students (in groups) will analyse the case, answer these questions, and then discuss their answers with the rest of the class.

All evaluation activities will be conducted in English. Further details will be provided at the start of the course.

USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

For in-class case resolution, where students are required to submit a written document with their answers at the end of the class, AI tools may be used to improve the spelling, grammar, and clarity of the text. Any AI tool used must be cited: students must specify the prompts entered and the process followed to review and edit the responses. This information must appear in a final section of the submitted document.

In the open-book exam, the use of AI is strictly forbidden. Any breach of this prohibition will be handled under the applicable university rules on fraud or plagiarism.

REGARDING FRAUD OR PLAGIARISM

If fraud or plagiarism is detected at any evaluation activity, that activity will, in accordance with university rules, be graded as failed (with a grade of 0), independently of any disciplinary proceedings that may be initiated.

Where the teaching staff have doubts about the authorship of any assessment test, they may request the student to attend an interview (which may be recorded), in order to verify that the student has the knowledge and skills consistent with authorship of the work. If the student’s authorship cannot be confirmed, the case may be treated as fraud or plagiarism.

Any student who does not show up to take the final test as scheduled according to the official calendar of exams will be given a mark of “absent”.

Avaluació única:
This special assessment will consist of aa multiple-choice exam, or a combination of multiple-choice and open questions, on the entire content of the subject matter. It is not an open-book exam.

To pass this assessment, a minimum grade of 5.0 is required.

To pass the course, there are two conditions, both of which must be met: (1) a minimum global average grade of 5.0 (considering the three evaluation activities); and (2) a passing grade in the exam.

Tutorials will take place by prior arrangement, either online or in person where possible.

Communication with students will take place via the channels provided on the Moodle platform or by email, and in person during the lectures where possible.

This subject is included in the ENGLISH PROGRAMME of the Faculty of Law of the University of Girona. All learning activities and materials are in English. Therefore, a minimum level of English is necessary to be able to follow the lessons. Previous knowledge of economic theory is NOT required to take this course.

It is recommended that students read the compulsory reading material associated with each unit before the corresponding session.
