I hold a PhD in Psychology (Cum Laude, 2009) and currently work as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Girona (UdG). My academic career reflects a strong commitment to teaching, research, and academic leadership. I coordinated the Psychology undergraduate program for seven academic years (2014/2015–2021/2022), and since 2024/2025, I coordinate the PhD program Psychology, Health and Quality of Life.
My professional credentials include the Advanced Research Accreditation (AQU, 2025), Associate Professor accreditation (MECE, 2013), three research evaluation periods (the latest 2018–2023), and three teaching evaluation periods, the most recent awarded with the highest distinction (A+). At UdG, I have been especially involved in Social Psychology training and postgraduate programs. I teach in two master’s degrees: the Interuniversity Master in Psychosocial Intervention (UB), focused on children and adolescents at social risk, social change, and subjective well-being; and the Master’s in 21st Century Migration Movements, where I lead the course on the social image of the other. I was recently awarded the ICEBERG2025 Prize for the creation of the AVATREQ platform (Team work Assessment), developed in collaboration with the UdG’s Teaching Innovation and Assessment Network (XID).
I have been a member of the ERIDIQV research group since 2003, initially as an FPI fellow from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Since 2021, I co-lead the group with Dr. Mònica González-Carrasco, contributing mainly to two research lines:
-
Digital well-being: My doctoral thesis explored the psychosocial implications of mobile phone use. My postdoctoral research expanded toward risks and opportunities associated with ICT. I currently study risk and protective factors related to social media use. I also collaborate with several early childhood intervention centers (CDIAPs) in Girona to address the impact of screen use on psychomotor development in early childhood.
-
Subjective well-being in childhood and adolescence: I have participated in large-scale national and international studies, adapting and validating well-being scales in various cultural contexts. Notable is my participation in the international project Children’s Worlds and other recent competitive projects focused on developing advanced technologies to promote children’s and adolescents’ well-being and mental health in both school settings and vulnerable environments.
I am part of the European project Platforming Families (CHANSE Horizon 2020) and have participated in 30 competitive projects (2 as PI), 5 non-competitive projects, 22 research contracts (7 as PI), and 2 knowledge transfer projects. I have led workshops with families, children, and educators on the prevention of problematic ICT use, and I am co-author of the Responsible Screen Use Guidelines for All Life Stages, in collaboration with the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia.
I currently co-lead an R&D project with two technological developments: a child well-being monitoring system (SMB) and a robotic intervention (IRS) designed to promote emotional recognition and prevent violence.
I have published 36 articles indexed in WOS and SCOPUS (25 in Q1/Q2), 7 books, and 20 book chapters with major publishers such as TEA, Springer, and Routledge. My h-index is 18 (WOS), 21 (SCOPUS), and 20 (Google Scholar), with over 1,900 citations. I have supervised 5 PhD theses (all Cum Laude) and currently supervise 5 more, one of which is part of an Industrial PhD program.
I collaborate with research groups from Poland, Brazil, and the ECREA section on Children, Youth and Media, thereby reinforcing my international projection.
