Adrià Ribas Sastre (Girona, 2001) holds a degree in Geography, Land Use Planning and Environmental Management from the University of Girona (2019-2023), where he subsequently completed a Master's degree in Environmental Change and Socioecological Transition (2023-2024). He is currently a PhD student at the University of Girona within the Socioenvironmental Change research group (SAMBI). His research focuses on water security and water governance on the Mediterranean coast and, more specifically, in the Muga river basin.
His greatest interests lie in climate risks and, in particular, those related to water and how they interact with society in tourist areas. This is how, throughout his career, he has focused on the analysis of climate risks in the Mediterranean basin thanks to his participation in the research project "Adaptation to risks associated with climate change in tourist areas of the Mediterranean coast: perception, incentives and barriers (RISKadapT)" (PID2019-104480GB-I00), from which he has published two works (the corresponding Final Degree Project and Final Master's Project). In the Final Degree Project, he focused his research on the impact of heat islands on society in two municipalities on the Costa Brava (Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar), while in the Final Master's Project, he focused his research on the perception, incentives and barriers for the adaptation of the municipalities on the Costa Brava to climate change.
He has also been working on the management of water projects at a European scale as a technician in public institutions (Girona City Council). He was the management technician of the project "ModULar Tools for Integrating enhanced natural treatment SOlutions in URban water CyclEs (MULTISOURCE EU)" (Grant agreement ID: 101003527), which aimed to develop innovative solutions (especially through the integration of Nature-based Solutions) for the reuse of urban water at a local scale.
