Professor of Mechanics of Continuum Media and Theory of Structures at the University of Girona (Spain), and Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Construction. He holds a European PhD from the University of Girona (2006) and has been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Porto (Portugal), as well as a visiting researcher at NASA Langley Research Center (USA) and Aalborg University (Denmark). He is a council member of the European Society for Composite Materials (ESCM) and serves on the editorial board of Composites Part B. He has authored over 100 papers in top-ranked international journals and is featured in the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” ranking by Stanford University, as well as in the “Best Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Scientists” list by Research.com. In 2022, he received the ICREA Acadèmia award. He actively collaborates on technology transfer projects with leading international companies, primarily in the aeronautical sector. In 2024, he was awarded the Academy Medal from the Air and Space Academy for “the exceptional contribution to scientific and industrial advances related to the generalisation of composite materials in current European programmes.”He is a member of AMADE (Analysis and Advanced Materials for Structural Design) and his research focuses on understanding and characterizing the mechanical behavior of high-performance composite materials and developing non-deterministic modeling strategies to predict structural behavior.
