Júlia López Romero Predoctoral researcher of the research group Biochemistry of Cancer (GRCT003) at the University of Girona. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Unit. Biology Department, Faculty of Sciences. University of Girona. 17071 Girona, Spain. E-mail: julia.lopezr@udg.edu ORCID: 0000-0001-9515-3285 Academic Training: My professional career began with academic training in biotechnology at the University of Girona (2017-2021). The end-of-degree project carried out in the Cancer Biochemistry research Group led by Dra. Rosa Peracaula and Dra. Esther Llop, introduced me to the world of cellular glycobiology and its aberrations in the tumor situation of pancreatic cells. After finishing my studies in biotechnology, I completed a Master's in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (2021-2022) that allowed me to acquire more applied knowledge in the fields of oncology and immunology, subjects that are of my greatest interest and ambition. During this academic period, I did internships, courses and congresses that enabled me to diversify my expertise and start my doctoral thesis. Research Focus: Molecular mechanisms for the glycosylation changes in cancer: Studies on glycosyltransferase expression, their involvement in tumor progression steps and the factors that regulate their expression. Inhibition of sialyltransferases to reduce cancer hypersialylation.
