If you are a citizen from a non EU or non EEA country, you should obtain a student visa in your home country before arriving in Spain. You can apply for a student visa at the Spanish Embassy or Consulate closest to your place of residence. Early visa application is very important. Please bear in mind that the wait time to receive a visa differs depending on an embassy. It is recommended that you apply for a visa approx. two month in advance.
Important: A tourist visa is not sufficient to study in Spain.
If you have a residence permit in a country that belongs to the European Union but your nationality is not European, you should ask for Una comunicación de desplazamiento por Estudios EU at the Oficina de Extranjería in Girona through the UdG. You must do it once in Girona and during your first month of stay.
