On Saturday, June 28th, 2025, Dr. Miquel Llorente conducted the workshop “Primatology Contributions to Understanding Human Functioning”, as part of the International Diploma in Multigenerational Therapy. The session was attended by participants from diverse backgrounds in psychology, therapy, and the behavioral sciences. The workshop explored how comparative studies of non-human primates can enrich our understanding of human behaviour, social relationships, and emotional regulation. Llorente emphasized that recognizing our evolutionary roots as primates is key to deepening our approach to Bowen Theory, particularly in relation to family systems, differentiation of self, and emotional interdependence. By examining social dynamics, hierarchies, cooperation, and particuparly the influence of early adverse experiences on the socio-emotional and behavioural development in primates, participants were invited to reflect on the parallels with human functioning, both at the individual and multigenerational levels. This session is part of Comparative Minds’ ongoing efforts to promote integrative training that bridges scientific research and practice, opening new avenues for reflection and professional development.
