Description:
The publication of research results is an integral part of a researcher’s job. Writing an article is not an easy task, and attempts by novice authors are often thwarted by a lack of a consistent and systematic approach to preparing the manuscript. This course first introduces the world surrounding the publication of scientific articles (publishers, journals, editors, authors, reviewers, databases, etc.) and the parameters defined to evaluate the quality of journals, researchers and their work (h-index, impact index, etc.). The course then provides clear guidelines on the organization of the manuscript and the appropriate flow of ideas to convey a scientific message. It also focuses on aspects of language to communicate scientific-technical results efficiently, and thus ensure that manuscripts are accepted and published.

Grading

Final qualification: pass/fail

To achieve a "pass" qualification:
- Attendance to 80% of the sessions
- Deliver homework exercises on time

Specific criteria for the "No show" grade:
To be evaluated, students must attend at least 80% of the sessions and deliver the homework exercises on time

Single Assessment:
Students that request "Single Assessment" evaluation and comply with the required conditions, will have to deliver the assignments of the course.

Minimum requirements to pass:
- Attendance to 80% of the sessions
- Deliver homework exercises on time

Mentorship

Mentoring will be performed on-site or by means of online platforms such as Google Meet. Appointments will be agreed with the teacher by email.

Communication and interaction with students

Communication with students will be via e-mail and the News forum of the course’s Moodle. Individual on-line meetings will be possible for a personalized monitoring.

Remarks

It is a course oriented to the practice of writing manuscripts.
