Description:
This course aims to provide the student with tools leading to an adequate development of theoretical and practical competences within the framework of physical agents application on physiotherapy as a treatment tool (through theoretical and practical classes). In order to implement the knowledge acquired throughout the course (but also throughout the degree so far), the Clinical Performance Sessions (SAC) are integrated into the teaching period of the subject, where students have the opportunity to offer a physical therapy service to real patients.

Assessment activities:

The midterm exam will consist of 20 multiple choice questions about concepts and short solving problems. A penalty of 20% of the value of the question will be deducted for each incorrect answer. There is no penalisation for unanswered questions.

Grading

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT:
Students will be continuously assessed by Midterm Exam and Final Exam, thereby receiving a weighted average of the continuous assessment: 25% for each Midterm Exam and 50% for Final Exam.

1. Midterm Exam:
It represents 50% of the Final Mark (each of them - one for the Physics Field, and one for the Therapeutic Field - represents 25%).
The midterm exam has 20 multiple choice questions about concepts and short solving problems.
Each question will have five possible answers, only one of which is correct.
The exam will last approximately 60 minutes.
A penalty of 20% of the value of the question will be deducted for each wrong answer (no deduction for unanswered questions).



2. Final Exam:
It represents 50% of the Final Mark.
The Final Exam also has 40 multiple choice questions about concepts and short solving problems.
Each question will have five possible answers, only one of which is correct.
A penalty of 20% of the value of the question will be deducted for each incorrect answer (no deduction for unanswered questions).
In this exam the use of a programmable calculator and/or formula sheet is not permitted.
The exam will last approximately 90 minutes.
A minimum score of 45% in each part (Physics and Therapy) of the Final Exam is required to obtain the weighted average score detailed above. This average will be the overall score of the subject.
Students who score less than 45% in one or both parts of the Final Exam will not be able to count the continuous assessment (Seminars, Evidence-Based Case Studies and Midterm Exam) as part of their final mark. In this case their final mark will be equal to the highest percentge between both parts that is below the 45% mark.

If the overall score of the subject is less than 5, the student will fail the subject.

NON-CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT
Students can skip Midterm Exam, and only sit the Final Exam. In this case, they will not be continuously assessed, therefore, 100% of their mark will correspond to the Final Exam.
A minimum score of 50% in each part (Physics and Therapy) of the Final Exam is required to pass the subject.
Students who score less than 50% in one or both parts of the Final Exam will receive a final mark that will be equal to the highest percentge between both parts that is below the 50% mark.


BASIC COMPETENCES EXAM (BCE):
Students who fail the subject will have the opportunity to sit the Basic Competences Exam (BCE) regardless of the evaluation method chosen.
It will have a similar format to that of the Final Exam and a minimum score of 5 is required to pass it.
In this case, the scores of the continuous assessment will be cancelled.
As it is a Basic Competences Exam, students who pass it will have a 5 as the Final Mark of the subject.
If a student does not reach the minimum mark of 5 in the BCE, the Final Mark of the subject will equal that of the BCE.

Specific criteria for the "No show" grade:
Students not attending to either the continuous assessment and/or the final assessment will be marked with a 'not seated' for the corresponding evaluation.

Single Assessment:
The evaluation system in EUSES - UdG is based, in general, on continuous assessment. If the student wishes to take part in the unique pathway (Non-Continuous Assessment), he/she will need to request it in writing to the professors of the subject and the degree coordinator during the first two weeks of the semester.

If the student opts for the Non-Continuous Assessment:
The student will not do any of the Continuous Assessment activities scheduled during the course (neither Evidence-Based Case Studies nor Midterm Exam).
The student will be assessed through a single exam, that is the Final Exam, which corresponds to 100 % of the overall mark of the subject.
A minimum mark of 5 is required to pass the subject. If the mark is less than 5, the student fails the subject and he/she will have the opportunity of taking the Basic Competences Exam (BCE) to pass the subject.

Minimum requirements to pass:
For students undergoing Continuous Assessment, a minimum score of 45% in each of the parts of the Final Exam is required in order to calculate the weighted average to pass the subject.
For students opting for the Non-Continuous Assessment, a minimum score of 50% in each of the parts of the Final Exam is required in order to pass the subject.
For all students sitting the BCE, a minimum score of 5 is required to pass the subject.

Attending class, reading the recommended bibliography and practising the exercises are essential tools to succeed in this subject.

To predict the physiological and structural changes that occur as a result of the application of physical agents in the human body.

-The Final Exam and the Midterm Exam will be done as a Moodle quiz, keeping the same format and weight (%) as specified in the subject outline.

-Tutorships will be carried out in person in enabled classrooms.
-Communication and interaction with the students will be in person, using the Moodle forum (Announcements) and via email.
