Description:
- The course presents the study of the concepts of health and disease through their fundamental definitions, the identification of the main vital signs and pathophysiological processes. It also includes the study of the main pharmacological groups. This is also the study of the most frequent medical-surgical pathologies, including both the description, the diagnosis, and the main treatments, all of them within the psycho-bio-social model.

Students will have to present a paper regarding a different field or speciality of Physiotherapy.
Oral presentation: Students will present their oral presentation (maximum of 10 minuts) on the last day of classes, before the exams. Power Point must be used for the oral presentation. Every member of the group needs to participate in the presentation. |

Grading
EVALUATION: 40% FINAL TEST + 40% Midterm Exam + 20% Oral Presentation
FINAL TEST (40%): 40 test-type questions. Each question will have 5 possible answers and only 1 will be correct. Wrong answers will substract 1/5 of the value of the questions. To take the exam it is necessary to bring a UdG student card or identity card.
CONTINUED EVALUATION:
- Midterm Exam: Questionnaire of 40 questions with multiple answers (same criteria of the final test exam)
- Oral Presentation of a paper related to the field/specialities of Physiotherapy (20%).
IMPORTANT: marks of the activities of continuous evaluation of previous courses are not kept.
The review of exams and activities will be done only on a date and time established by coordination. The review is to check that there has been no error on the part of the teachers in correcting the exam and to learn how to improve for future assessments. In the case of considering that there has been an error on the part of the teaching staff of the subject in the correction and that the note must be revised, it will be requested in writing after the delivery of the exam.
IMPORTANT DURING AN EVALUATION TEST:
- No questions will be answered during the exam
- Each student must only bring a pen and the UdG card (it will not be possible to ask any classmate or the teacher for extra material).
- It is mandatory to fill in the identification field correctly (UdG number).
- You cannot speak during the exam or perform behaviors that may suspect copying.
Specific criteria for the "No show" grade:
It is considered Not Presented (NP) student when is not present during the exam.
Single Assessment:
The evaluation system in EUSES - UdG is based, in general, in the continuous assessment. If the student wishes to take part in the unique pathway, he / she will need to request it in writing to the lecturer of the subject and the degree coordinator during the first two weeks of the Semester.
The evaluation criteria and the activities that students in a unique evaluation situation must do are the following:
- Exame of 80 questions multiple choice
Minimum requirements to pass:
A minimum grade of 5.0 / 10 will be required, within the media of all parts, to pass the subject.
It is necessary to obtain 4.5/10 in the final exam in order to make media with the other evaluation activities. It is not required to have a minimum mark of the continuous evaluation activities in order to make media with the exam.
Mentorship
The tutorials will be carried out in person in enabled classrooms, and also virtually.
Scenario I. In person: the tutorials will be carried out in person in enabled classrooms. Communication and interaction with the students will be in person, and the Moodle fórum and email will be used in addition.
Scenario IV. Confinement: Tutorials will be virtually conducted. Communication and interaction with the students will take place virtually, through the forum of Moodle, video-conferencing means and email.
Communication and interaction with students
Communication and interaction with the student will be done in person and virtually and will use the forum of notices and news of Moodle, video conferences and e-mail.
Remarks
This subject has 14 class weeks. In the 6th session (aproximately in October) will take place the MIDTERM EXAM and all students are expected to attend. In the 14th class week it will take place the Oral Presentation.
In January there will be the FINAL EXAM.
It is student's responsability to keep up to date with the comunication and activities.
Information necessary to complete the course will be entirely provided in class or through Moodle. Classes attendance is not obligatory but very recomended as every thing that it is mentioned or described in class is exam materia.
Learning outcomes:
- Knowing the fundamental pathophysiology in their physiotherapeutic aspects.
- Knowing medications and understanding their usefulness.
- Having the ability to interpret pathologies/injuries based on different studies and diagnostic tests.
Design Amendment
Amendment of activities:
The competencies and contents of the Pathological Bases I subject will not be modified in any case as long as the method of activities is modified according to the scenario set by the University of Girona.
Scenario 1. Presence:
The theoretical presentation of contents and the analysis and case studies will be developed in person in the classrooms.
Scenario 4: All classes will be telematic both synchronously and asynchronously

To pass the subject of Pathological Bases I will require a TOTAL FINAL MARK of 5. (written test + activities of continuous evaluation)
Only students who do not pass (with a grade lower than 5 of the FINAL GRADE of the subject) will opt for a recuperation exam where the maximum grade will be 5 (all those who have passed must obtain at least a 5 and obtain as to a maximum grade of 5), and in no case will the grades obtained in the continuous assessment activities be added.
Not presented (NP) students will be those who do not carry out any continuous assessment activity or the final written test or the recuperation exam.
Scenario IV:
The totality of the evaluation activity will be carried out in telematic form with the visual follow-up of the student with Zoom program.
