Assessment and Grading

Assessment activities:

Description of the activity Assessment Activity % Remediable subject
Midterm exam 25 multiple choice questions. Each question has only one true answer. Each correct answer scores +1 point. Each wrong answer will be penalized (questions with 4 possible choices, -0.25 points; questions with 2 choices, -1 points).
The use of AI tools is not permitted.
25 No
Oral Communication Oral presentation of the most relevant aspects of scientific articles related to a topic of the subject. In working groups. The use of AI tolls is only allowed in a limited manner for preparing the oral communication: to support comprehension of scientific articles, as well as to improve spelling, grammar, and the clarity of presentation materials. 25 No
Final exam 50 multiple choice questions + 2 short questions. Each question has only one true answer. Each correct answer scores +1 point. Wrong answers will be penalized (questions with 4 choices: -0.25 points; questions with 2 choices: -1 points). The use of AI tools is not permitted. 50 Yes

Grading

EVALUATION: 50% CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT + 50% FINAL EXAM

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT(50%):

- MIDTERM EXAM (25%): 25 multiple choice questions covering part of the course. Each question has only one true answer. Each correct answer scores +1 point. Each wrong answer will be penalized (questions with 4 possible choices, -0.25 points; questions with 2 choices, -1 points).

- ORAL COMMUNICATION of the most relevant aspects of a scientific article related to a topic of the subject in working groups (25%): Students who already passed the oral communication in the previous course (minimum grade of 5), the scored mark will be kept for the current course.

FINAL EXAM (50%): 50 multiple choice questions (8/10 points) + 2 short questions (2/10 points) covering the entirety of the course (including the content of the oral presentations). Each question has only one true answer. Each correct answer scores +1 point. Wrong answers will be penalized (questions with 4 choices: -0.25 points; questions with 2 choices: -1 points).T

For continuous asessment, a minimum of 4/10 points in the final exam is required in order to calculate the mean qualification of the whole subject.

A minimum grade of 5/10 is required to pass the subject.

Those students who fail the course (less than 5/10) will be eligible to take the BASIC COMPETENCES EXAM: 20 multiple choice questions (8/10 points) + 1 short question (2/10 points). Each correct answer scores +1 point. Each wrong answer will be penalized (questions with 4 possible choices, -0.25 points; questions with 2 choices, -1 points). In this exam, if passed (minimum of 5/10), the maximum grade given will be 5 and will be the course qualification.

AI POLICY: The use of AI tools is not permitted in the midterm exam, the final exam, or the basic competences exam. Their use is only allowed in a limited manner for preparing the oral communication: to support comprehension of scientific articles, as well as to improve spelling, grammar, and the clarity of presentation materials.

Specific criteria for the "No show" grade:
Students are required to participate in the assessment activities during the course (midterm exam, oral communication, final exam) or the unique assessment. On the contrary, will be considered as non-attendance.

Single Assessment:
The evaluation system in EUSES - UdG is based, in general, in the continuous assessment. If the student wishes to take part in the unique pathway, they must request it in writing to coordination@euses.cat within the first two weeks of the semester, with the subject lecturer included in copy.
The unique assessment pathway will consist of a comprehensive final evaluation covering all course content, including the theoretical content addressed in the oral presentations.

Minimum requirements to pass:
A minimum grade of 5.0 will be required to pass the subject.

Mentorship

The tutorials will be carried out in person in enabled classrooms, and also virtually.

Communication and interaction with students

Communication and interaction with the students will be done in person and virtually throughout the forum of Moodle, video-conferencing means and email.

Design Amendment

Amendment of activities:
All activities will be performed respecting the different possible scenarios stated by the University.

Amendment of the assessment:
Evaluation process will be carried out using Moodle tools and other virtual platforms enabled by the UdG.

Mentoring and communication:
Scenari I: IN PERSON: Mentoring will be carried out in person in the enabled classrooms. Communication and interaction with students will be in person and using MOODLE tools (Notification Forum - MOODLE chat) and e-mail.

Scenari IV: LOCKDOWN: Mentoring will be conducted virtually. Communication and interaction with students will take place virtually, throughout MOODLE tools:(Notification Forum - MOODLE chat), videoconferencing and email.
