Avaluació i qualificació

Activitats d'avaluació:

Descripció de l'activitat Avaluació de l'activitat % Recuperable
Case Study Group Presentation Students will work in groups to solve case studies. This will consist of a Mandatory Tutorial class online. Each group will be responsible to deliver a single essay about a specific case study. A peer review system will be used to calculate the students mark, as a % of the final mark received from the group (Individual Peer Review Mark % x Mark Given for Group by the Lecturer = Final Case Study Assignment Individual Mark).
In the case of non-attendance to the tutorial or no delivery of group assignment, the student will receive 0.
30 No
Practical Evaluation Evaluation based on the practical aspects of massage techniques. The exam will be conducted in pairs and each student will be requested to perform 2 practical techniques learned in the course. Aspects including communication, knowledge, effectiveness of the techniques, position of the physiotherapist and patient will be assessed. 40
Theoretical Evaluation Multiple choice questions about theory (lectures and case studies) and practical lessons. Each question will have five possible answers, only one of which is correct. A penalty of 20% of its value will be deducted for each wrong question. There is no penalisation for unanswered questions. 30

Qualificació

In order to pass the subject, students following the normal evaluation will be requested to fullfill the following requirements:

1) GROUP CASE STUDY PRESENTATION (30%). Students will work in groups to solve case studies. This will consist of a Mandatory Tutorial class. Each group will be responsible to deliver a single case study presentation. A peer review system will be used to calculate the students mark, as a % of the final mark received from the group (Individual Peer Review Mark % x Mark Given for Group by the Lecturer = Final Group Presentation Individual Mark).

2) PRACTICAL EVALUATION (40%). 2 practical evaluations based on the practical aspects of massage techniques. The exams will be conducted in pairs and each student will be requested to perform 2 practical techniques learned in the course. Aspects including communication, knowledge, effectiveness of the techniques, position of the physiotherapist and patient will be assessed. A minimum average mark of 5/10 is required to pass. Students failing to obtain the minimum will be required to sit the BCE component for the practical part.

3) THEORETICAL EVALUATION (30%). Multiple Choice Questions about theory (lectures and case studies) and practical lessons. Each question will have five possible answers, only one of which is correct. A penalty of 20% of its value will be deducted for each wrong question. There is no penalisation for unanswered questions. A minimum mark of 5/10 is required to pass. Students failing to obtain the minimum will be required to sit the BCE component for the theoretical part.

Participation is highly encouraged throughout the course and it can be discretionally used by teacher as an additional part of the assessment.

A minimum 80% of course attendance is required for students in the normal evaluation pathway. This means it is allowed to miss 2.5 days of classes during the course. Failing to comply with attendance requirements will result in sitting the BCE for theory and practical components. This rule does not apply for 'special evaluation' students. Please note that students opting to take the special evaluation must notify their decision to the lecturer within the first two weeks of the course.

Students who fail a compulsory component of the course will be required to sit the BCE for that component. The BCE will be marked as pass / not pass. The pass mark is 5/10 (final qualification on the subject).

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
Student not having attended neither practical lectures nor any evaluation throughout the semester, including the BCE, will be considered as '"No Presentatat" (NP).

Avaluació única:
Students who opt for the Special Evaluation will be required to take the practical and theory exams on the same day, during official exam week.
Students are also encouraged to participate in the Case Study with their given group (20% of mark, calculated via peer review), as well as do do exam based of case study questions (10%). Those that do not participate in these two components, will lose 30% of the final mark. It will not be possible to do this exam component, unless the student has participated in the Group Case Study.
The practical component is worth 35% and will consist of demonstrating two massage techniques given throughout the course. The pass mark for this practical component is 5/10.
The theory component is worth 35% and will consist of MCQ and open ended questions about theoretical concepts acquired during the lectures and case study assignments. The pass mark for this theory component is 5/10.
An overall mark for the subject of 5/10 must be achieved.

Requisits mínims per aprovar:
In order to pass the subject via normal or special evaluation, students must obtain a minimum overall qualification of 5/10.
Students must achieve a minimum mark of 5/10 separetely in the theoretical exam and combined practical exams.
