2. Crisis of Fordism and rise of neoliberal globalisation: oil shocks, stagflation, early deindustrialisation, market oriented reforms
3. New industrial powers in East Asia and China: developmental states, export led growth, China’s rise and the “China shock”
4. Latin America and Central/Eastern Europe: ISI strategies, debt and adjustment, post socialist transition and FDI led industrialisation
5. Global value chains and offshoring: multinational firms, fragmented production, logistics and financialisation of industry
6. Deindustrialisation and regional inequality: employment and wage effects, “left behind” regions and social/political tensions
7. Industry 4.0/5.0, AI and green transition: automation, digital platforms, human centric and sustainable industry, critical raw materials and new industrial policies
• Class participation and short in-class exercises: 10%
• Group presentation (case study of country/region/firm): 30%
• Midterm test (topics 1–3): 30%
• Final exam (comprehensive, topics 4–7): 30%
Participation includes attendance, contributions to discussions and debates, and completion of low-stakes quizzes or data exercises.

The grade of Not Presented will be reserved for those students who have completed the essay and/or not taken the final exam.
Avaluació única:
Students may request a single assessment, based on a final exam that will count for 100% of the grade. This option must be requested within the deadlines established by the Faculty.
Requisits mínims per aprovar:
To pass the subject, a minimum grade of 5.0 must be obtained.
Face-to-face or online communications between professors and students will always take place during working and teaching hours (Monday to Friday).
The resolution of doubts, tutoring and revision of exercises in person or online will take place in the scheduled and published times.
