Grading
The subject is assessed considering the following activities:
1. Test of the theoretical content taught during the seminar by the guest professor. Compulsory: Yes. 10 %
2. Completion and presentation in front of the class group of a paper whose topic and content will have to be agreed with the teaching staff of the subject. Compulsory: Yes. 30 %
3. Practical labs (project-based). These practical lectures will consist of the simulation of a surgical gestures using the laboratory's robots. The robotic application action (or robotic surgical gesture) under consideration must be agreed with the teaching staff before starting the work. Compulsory: Yes. 50%
4. Special practical lectures (Rob Surgical Systems, Da Vinci Hospital Josep Trueta). Practical activities in Rob Surgical Systems + UPC Haptic Devices Lab and Da Vinci Robot in Hospital Josep Trueta. Compulsory: No. 10 %
Attendance at practical labs is mandatory.
The evaluation of the practical labs will be based on:
1) Previous analysis and preparation of the session (you must bring a report with the preparation of the work to access the lab session) (10%)
Previous Report: outline and analysis carried out of the problem to be solved with an outline of the program.
2) Development of work in the lab (independence and attitude at work, problem solving, teamwork, ...) (40%)
3) Presentation of the work to the teacher at the end of the lab session (25%)
4) Final USEFUL report to be given to teachers (25%)
Program developed (with comments) + points acquired + problems that appeared and how they were solved.
To pass the subject, an overall grade greater than or equal to 5 must be obtained in the average of the subject.
If fraudulent actions are detected in any type of academic activity (use of information without authorization, use of false information, use of unauthorized devices, impersonation, total or partial plagiarism, purchase and sale of tests, practices and assignments, etc) the students involved will automatically fail the subject. Depending on the type of fraudulent act, the EPS will initiate the appropriate procedures in accordance with Law 3/2022 of 24 February on University Coexistence (https://www.boe.es/eli/es/l /2022/02/24/3)
Specific criteria for the "No show" grade:
Any of the following cases:
- Not appearing in the theoretical test of the seminar
- Not performing and/or presenting the Project
- Not attending 2 or more sessions of the mandatory lab sessions without justification
- Not attending the practical sessions at Rob Surgical Systems and/or Da Vinci-H.Trueta without justification
Single Assessment:
Exam of theoretical and practical contents of the subject. In order to be able to do this exam, it will be necessary to firstly deliver an alternative practical project that will be provided to students.
Final mark will be 50% exam and 50% practical project.
Related to the practical content of the subject, in the exam it will also be possible to ask the students questions regarding the tools used in the standard lab sessions (software, robots, etc).
If it is considered necessary, a meeting will be organized where teachers can ask questions they consider appropriate about the development of the practical project.
In order to have the possibility to use this extraordinary evaluation method (avaluació única), they must apply within the specified deadlines and the procedures and criteria established by EPS government.
Minimum requirements to pass:
To pass the subject a minimum grade of 5.0 must be obtained
Minimum grade for each assessment activity: 4
Mentorship
There is not specific slot of time for tutoring activities. To request a meeting with the teaching staff, you must send an email.
Tutoring activities will be carried out in the most appropriate format (email, video call, etc.).
Special tutoring sessions will be organized, even for groups, if it is considered necessary
Communication and interaction with students
The natural teachers-student communication way will always be by e-mail and moodle.
The subject teaching materials will be available on moodle.
Academic deliveries (works, labs, problems, …) will be made by moodle or by email.
When, for some reason, a video conferencing tool must be used for classes, the link will be sent in advance through a moodle warning or by email. In this case, the classes will be recorded and the video will be uploaded to the moodle to make the session available to the students.
