Oriol Ponsatí-Murlà (Figueres, 1978) graduated in Philosophy from the University of Girona (UdG), where he received the Extraordinary Degree Award, and holds a PhD in Philosophy from the same university, with a dissertation on the conversion of Augustine of Hippo. He is Associate Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Girona. He has been awarded two five-year teaching evaluations (2018 and 2023) and one six-year research evaluation (2024).
He has been a Visiting Professor at Stanford University, California (2025), and a Visiting Scholar at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on two occasions (2025 and 2026).
He is the author of around eighty academic publications, including books, book chapters, and articles in national and international journals. His main research interests are ancient and medieval philosophy, intellectual history, the history of Catalan philosophy, and the philosophical study of suicide.
His recent publications include articles in international academic journals such as Graeco-Latina Brunensia, Les Lettres Romanes (Brepols, Belgium), Augustinian Studies (Villanova University, Pennsylvania), Zeitschrift für Katalanistik (University of Freiburg), Hispania Sacra (CSIC), and Revista de lenguas y literaturas catalana, gallega y vasca (UNED), as well as in Spanish academic journals such as Temps d’Educació (University of Barcelona), Cercles. Revista d’Història Cultural (University of Barcelona), Tamid. Revista Catalana Anual d’Estudis Hebraics (Catalan Society for Hebrew Studies), Els Marges, AUSA, and Annals de l’Institut d’Estudis Gironins.
