Brief CV

My name is Sílvia Font Mayolas, Professor Serra Húnter in the Department of Psychology at the University of Girona (UdG) since January 2018.

In 1995, I graduated in Psychology from the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona, and in 2002, I received my PhD in Psychology from the University of Girona. I also completed my training with a Postgraduate Diploma in Assessment Strategies and Intervention Techniques in Health Psychology from the University of Girona (1998), a Postgraduate Diploma in University Teaching from the University of Girona (2005), a Specialization Course in Current Trends and Training Models in Teaching Psychology from the University of Girona (2019), a Specialization Course in Personal and Professional Well-being from the University of Girona (2019), and a Course on the Promotion of Spiritual Health and Scientific Evidence in Clinical Practice from the Andalusian School of Public Health (2022).

Throughout my teaching career, I have taught as an Associate Professor, Lecturer, and Associate Professor while working as a psychologist. I have previously held a PhD fellowship and a collaboration fellowship from the Ministry of Education and Science. My teaching falls within the area of ??knowledge of Personality, Psychological Assessment, and Treatment (PETRA) and primarily refers to modules from the Psychology degree program, such as "Psychological Assessment," "Psychology of Addictions," and "Non-Drug Addictions." I am also a lecturer on the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology. I am also a tutor and professor of the first-year cross-curricular subject "Integrated Academic and Professional Competencies 1 (CAPI 1)" for the Psychology degree program.

Regarding management, from December 2013 to December 2017, I held the position of Vice-Rector for Students at the University of Girona within the governing team of Rector Dr. Sergi Bonet Marull. My responsibilities included relations with the Student Council, the Council of Associations, and the Alumni, as well as scholarship policy, sports policy, and cultural policy. Likewise, from 2000 to 2013, I co-coordinated the Master's degree in Assessment and Treatment of Psychological Disorders at the University of Girona (UdG), and for 10 years I was the coordinator of the UdG summer course "Intervention in Addictions." From December 2021 to December 2025, I held the position of Director of the UdG's Quality of Life Research Institute (IRQV).

Regarding research, I am the co-director of the consolidated research group in Health Psychology attached to the Institute for Research on Quality of Life (IRQV) at the University of Girona. My areas of specialization are: Health Psychology and health risk behaviors and disease prevention, specifically addictions. From 2006 to 2009, I was the principal investigator of the research project "Epidemiology of Addictive Behaviors in Adolescents," funded by the University of Girona. From 2007 to 2010, I was the principal investigator of the project "Stages of Acquisition of Substance Use and Abuse in Adolescents," funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation with the Grants for the Execution of Projects in Approval Axis A corresponding to Young Talents. Additionally, I have participated in 10 competitive research projects in the field of health risk behaviors, highlighting the project "Health literacy in people with acute stroke during the COVID-19 pandemic: effectiveness of a digital health education intervention," led by Dr. Rosa Suñer, which received support from the Carlos III Health Institute and the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (2021-2023). I am currently part of the research team for the projects: "A neurophysiological biomarker of craving in gambling disorder: A decoding project," funded by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs (2005-2026), and "Fighting addictions, improving lives: comprehensive drug rehabilitation with music," funded by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (2025-2029).

Regarding knowledge transfer, I have been the principal investigator on 12 research contracts with entities such as the Barcelona Provincial Council and a collaborating researcher on two knowledge transfer contracts with the Royal Automobile Club of Catalonia Foundation (RACC). In 2021, I was the principal investigator on the research contract signed with the Girona City Council to analyze drug addiction prevention needs for the development of the future municipal addiction plan for the city of Girona. This latest contract has resulted in part of the University of Girona's new Municipal Addiction Plan, presented in 2022.

I have published 65 articles in scientific journals (ORCID: 0000-0002-4216-3604). I am the author or co-author of 7 books, one of which is about mentoring and tutorial action plans entitled “Guide to the Tutorial Action Plan for Human Development Studies in the Information Society and Psychology” in 2007 (Documenta Publishing House). I am also the author of 16 book chapters in publications such as “Adolescents in the 21st Century” in 2003 (UOC Publishing House), “Psychological Assessment. Concepts, Methods, and Case Studies” in 2011 (Pyramid Publishing House) and “Neuropathology of Drug Addiction” (Elsevier Publishing House). I have also co-supervised 9 doctoral theses, one of which received the Extraordinary Doctoral Award in Psychology from the University of Girona in 2012. Together with colleagues in the research group, we have presented more than 100 papers and posters at national and international conferences in the field of health psychology.

From 2013 to 2017, I served on the editorial board of the indexed journal "Addictive Behaviors." Since 2025, I have been a member of the Editorial Board of the University of Girona.

As an evaluator, I have participated in the review of grants and scholarships from the State Research Agency (AEI) since 2007, from the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Castilla y León (ACSUCYL) since 2020, and from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Andorra since 2021. Regarding teaching publications, I have published six articles in journals such as the "Journal of University Training and Educational Innovation (REFIEDU)." I have also presented 19 papers at conferences on university teaching. I have been a speaker at two editions of the International Congress on University Teaching (UNIVEST), organized by the UdG, and a member of the Organizing Committee for its most recent edition. I was also deputy editor of the Journal of Psychology Teaching: Theory and Experience (REPTE) from 2005 to 2013. I also tutored 10 high school students who completed their baccalaureate research projects with the support of the University's Botet and Sisó scholarships. In 2007, I was awarded one of the Teaching Innovation Awards by the Vice-Rector's Office for Teaching at the University of Girona. In 2017 and 2018, I was the principal investigator of the teaching innovation project "Training of Trainers in Health Psychology," supported by the University of Girona.

I collaborate and participate in the organization of national meetings of teachers of Psychological Assessment, aimed at sharing teaching materials and methodology among university professors in this field in the pursuit of improving teaching quality. The last meeting was held in San Sebastián on May 8 and 9, 2025. In 2021, the meeting was held in Madrid.
