I have been a professor in the Faculty of Sciences of the UdG for 32 years.
At the moment I am Professor of Zoology.
My teaching has been focused on the subject of Zoology, but I have participated in others such as Ethology or Arthropod Biology in the degree and degree in Biology and Environmental Sciences. I have participated in different subjects of several master's degrees.
My research focuses on ants (myrmecology) and basically in three lines: ant-plant interaction (myrmecochory), ant communities and their role as bioindicators, exotic and invasive ants.
I have co-led as Principal Investigator the Research Group on Ecological Disturbances and Terrestrial Animal Communities (GR-PECAT), Consolidated research group of Catalonia, which together with the Ichthyology researchers form the Animal Biology research group of the UdG I am currently part of the BioLand Research Group Consolidated Research Group of Catalonia
I directed or co-directed 8 doctoral theses. I have more than a hundred publications and more than half are articles in indexed international journals.
I have held several management positions: Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Director of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Vice Dean and Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Sciences.
I am a member of the International Union for the Study of Social Insects (IUSSI), Asociación Española de Ecologia Terrestre (AEET), Asociación Ibérica de Myrmecologia (AIM), Asociación Española de Entomologia (AeE) and the Catalan Institute of Natural History (ICHN).
