Josu Oca is a PhD researcher at the Logic and Artificial Intelligence (LAI) research group at the University of Girona, where he is pursuing his PhD in Artificial Intelligence and formal methods. He holds a Bachelor''s degree in Computer Engineering and a Master''s degree in Computational Engineering by the University of the Basque Country (EHU). His research mainly focuses on automated planning and the use of SAT/SMT solving techniques for planning problems, with particular interest in developing compact and efficient SMT formulations that avoid or reduce the grounding process. Within this research line, together with Miquel Bofill and Cristina Borralleras, he published the article “Efficient SMT Formulations for Classical Planning” in the Journal of Logical and Algebraic Methods in Programming (JLAMP). He has also worked on temporal logic, model checking, and reactive system synthesis. During his PhD, he completed a research stay at the IMDEA Software Institute in Madrid, where he worked with César Sánchez on contingent planning, exploring new techniques for addressing planning problems under uncertainty and partial observability.
