Brief CV

Dr. Eva Marguí is Associate professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor) of the Department of Chemistry of the UdG with 3 recognized research stretches. From 2010 she leads a research line in the group of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry focused on the development and use of simple and sustainable analytical methodologies based on the use of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry techniques for multielemental analyis of a wide range of samples, mostly for environmental purposes, including waters, soils and biota. She has experience in a wide range of XRF configurations including laboratory instruments as well as big facilities such as synchrotron radiation (i.e, approved beam time applications: ID: 20145314, 20155394, 20165320, 20185139-Elettra Synchrotron, Trieste, Italy and ID: 20165320, 2016091810-ALBA Synchrotron, Barcelona, Spain). Dr. Eva Marguí has published more than 100 articles in international peer-review journals that have received over 3141 citations with an h-index of 31 (Scopus database). She is also co-author of 2 books, 4 book chapters, 20 articles not included in the SCI and 1 technical report. She has disseminated her research activity in more than 100 contributions to international conferences (22 oral and 82 posters) and she has delivered 16 invited talks.

Dr. Marguí has participated in 5 National research projects as a researcher, in two international projects funded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a principal investigator and at present she is was also a member of the management committee of the COST ACTION CA18130 (ENFORCE TXRF) and leader of the WG3 where she  coordinated the collaborative research activities in a group of more than 40 researchers from 32 countries in the world. Some other merits of Dr. Marguí with respect to the international visibility:  during the period 2012-2014 she was the secretary of the European X-ray Spectrometry Association (EXSA), she is a member of the Editorial board of the journal Spectrochimica Acta Part B (Q1, since 2017), member of the organizing committee of the “18th international conference on total reflection X-ray fluorescence analysis and related methods” (25-28/06/2019, Girona, Spain), member of the International advisory committee of the same conference (since 2019), guest editor of the Special Issue on the TXRF-2019 conference (Spectrochimica Acta Part B 164(2020)10518) and co-editor of the Special Issue “Development and Application of X-rays in Metal Analysis of Soil and Plants”. Agronomy, an Open Access Journal by MDPI.

Dr. Eva Marguí has also participated in the development and application of analytical methods in cooperation with industries (i.e. Sorigué S.A) and the IAEA. It is also interesting to remark the organization of the “Theoretical and Practical XRF spectrometry workshop: instrumentation and applications (THEOPRAX)” in cooperation of the main XRF spectrometer designers (i.e, Bruker, Fischer, Malvern Panalytical, Rigaku and Spectro) in 2011, 2015 and 2018 (Girona, Spain).

Regarding the mentoring research activities, she has supervised 2 PhD (2 more in progress), 3 Master Thesis and more than 30 final degree projects. Moreover, in the last years, several PhD and postdoc students from different countries (Turkey, Croatia, Brazil, Italy, Greece and Spain) have joined her group in the frame of short scientific missions. Dr. Marguí has cooperated with the IAEA in the training of fellows from developing countries in the use of nuclear techniques for water analysis (Yemen: C6/YEM/1302, Jamaica:  JAM14001, JAM14002, JAM14006 and Cuba: FTS-811331CUB16010). Finally, she also participated in the training of early career investigators of the CA18130 through the participation in the scientific committee and as a lecturer in the 1st international summer school on TXRF (virtual event, September 2021).

Since 2008 Dr. Marguí has collaborated with the ANEP for the evaluation of applications in different calls and programmes: “Plan Nacional I+D+I”, “Ayudas personal técnico de apoyo”, “Programa de ayudas Severo Ochoa para la formación en investigación y docéncia”, “Ayudas para la formación de doctores en empresas”, “Subprograma de acciones integradas” e “Infraestructuras equipamiento”. At international level she has also participated as a referee for the promotion of Faculty members of the

Academic Council, King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (from 2018) and for the research program evaluation with the Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo, Chile (from 2021). Until now Dr. Marguí has participated as a member of 5 Doctoral Thesis Committees (2 international).
