During the more than 30 years of research experience, beginning with my doctoral thesis (1992-1998), I have focused my research in the field of urban and industrial wastewater treatment with special attention to nutrients and control processes and optimization I have studied autotrophic nitrogen removal technologies (partial nitrification, anaerobic nitrogen oxidation -anammox-), bioelectrochemical processes for autotrophic denitrification, conversion of CO2 to methane (biogas upgrading) and nutrient recovery processes with special attention to phosphorus and potassium. I have published 125 scientific articles (H index: 48), directed 19 doctoral theses, been principal investigator of more than 31 research and transfer projects (4 international), author of 8 patents and responsible for more than 65 research contracts, transfer and advice with companies in the sector. I have recognized 4 research 6y-periods (last 2020), 6 teaching 5y-periods (last 2022) and 1 transfer 6y-period (last 2002). I am currently University Professor of Chemical Engineering at the UdG.
