Brief CV

Albert Sabater is Serra Húnter Associate Professor of Sociology, Director of the Observatory for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (OEIAC in Catalan), and Coordinator of Studies of the Master in Business Economics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business at the University of Girona.

He holds a PhD in Social Statistics, Censuses and Surveys from the University of Manchester, a Master's (MSc) in Social Research Methods and Statistics from the same university and a Master's in Demography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

His research and teaching interests focus on social, spatial, and digital or technological inequalities, as well as intergenerational transfers and methodological and computational aspects of the Social Sciences, using censuses, surveys, and massive data (or Big Data). It is in this last section that he carried out his doctoral thesis, implementing iterative algorithms to treat biases derived from changes in the definition of variables and from the general non-response (missing data) and differential to population calculations, taking into account individual characteristics such as sex, age, ethnic affiliation or place of residence.

He is currently principal investigator of a case study of the consortium and international project "Artificial Intelligence for Assessment (AI FORA)" on the use of artificial intelligence in the provision of social services from a sociotechnical perspective, co-researcher and member of the research team. coordinator of the European project of Horizon Europe "Strategies and tools for Incentivization and management of flexibility in Energy Communities with distributed Resources (RESCHOOL)" on technology, energy and intergenerational transfers, and collaborator in various national (SOLNET) and international projects (Center for Population Change, Connecting Generations).
