I am a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Girona and a membre of the Marine Biodiversity and Resources Research Group (GR MAR) at the Institute of Aquatic Ecology, as well as a member of the consolidated research group MedRecover, dedicated to Conservation Biology in marine ecosystems. My research focuses on the ecology of coastal benthic communities dominated by macroalgae, combining in situ studies through SCUBA diving with laboratory and field experiments. I am particularly interested in understanding the dynamics of macroalgal-dominated marine forests and the factors and processes that determine their resistance and resilience to impacts operating at different spatial scales, such as climate change, invasive species, herbivory, and pollution. The ultimate goal of my research is to apply the knowledge generated to support the effective management, restoration, and conservation of these benthic communities. Regarding teaching, I lecture in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Environmental Sciences, as well as in the Master’s Degree in Environmental Change and Socio-Ecological Transition at the same university.
