I am a tenure-track lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Girona and a researcher with the Research Group on Biodiversity and Marine Resources (GR Mar) at the Institute of Aquatic Ecology (IEA). My research focuses on the study of the biology and ecology of littoral benthic organisms, to apply this knowledge in the field of conservation (addressing threatened or invasive species) and biotechnology (marine species cultivation). Specifically, I have focused on how anthropogenic threats such as global warming, pollution, and invasive species, affect canopy-forming macroalgal species, with the goal of preserving and/or restoring these Mediterranean marine forests. These studies have involved the development of culture techniques (in situ and in vitro), thermotolerance experiments, threshold detection of optimal and harmful conditions, as well as long-term monitoring of natural populations for phonological and demographic studies. www.marineforest.com
