I am an
organic chemist from the University of Barcelona, with a PhD in Paper
Engineering and Recycling from the University of Girona. Since 2008, I have
been professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of
Girona and the leader of the Research Group on Advanced Biomaterials and
Nanotechnology since 2017.
My research
expertise is based on nearly 20 years of work focused primarily on cellulose fibres
and cellulose-based composite materials. Over this time, I have published more
than 120 JCR-indexed articles, receiving over 4,000 non-self-citations, and contributed to approximately 190 conferences. In addition to my academic experience, I have
worked in the R&D departments of two industrial companies—one in a pulp and
paper sector and another in polymer- synthetic industry.
Looking
ahead, my scientific strategy is built around three main research domains:
a) Flexible electronics
b) Multiscale materials and interface design
c) Sustainable design, waste treatment, and recycling
In
alignment with the 2030 EU targets set out in the European Green Deal and the
Climate and Energy Framework, my work emphasises the responsible use of natural
resources and waste recovery as essential pillars of my research. Overall, my
future research aims are rooted in materials engineering with a focus on
performance enhancement, material tailoring, multifunctional integration,
electronic properties, interface optimisation, and nanostructure design.
