Evaluation systems

The ordinary evaluation system is Continuous Evaluation for all students. Global Evaluation (no class attendance required) is limited to students from previous courses and, in some very special cases, students who are explicitly authorized by the Academic Board of Directors to undergo global evaluation in this subject.

For Continuous Evaluation, a minimum of 80% class attendance is required, regardless of any justification for non-attendance. Only those absences which are reported by the Academic Board of Directors will not be counted as non-attendance. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will lose the benefits and partial grades of Continuous Evaluation and must sit a global evaluation, without any further re-sit.
In the event that a non-attendance reported by the Academic Board of Directors affects an assessment activity, an alternative will be considered to the extent that the activity requires it.

In the case of students with special needs and whose situation has been communicated by the Academic Direction, an appropriate adaptation of the evaluation will be considered in order to guarantee equal opportunities.

The final marks of Continuous Evaluation will be communicated before the end of the teaching period, and in any case before the Global Evaluation period begins.

Both in Continuous Evaluation and in Global Evaluation there is an option of re-evaluation (re-sit) if the passing grade is not reached; the conditions are detailed below. Any fraudulent practice in any of the evaluable exercises, presentations, tests, exams, etc. will result in a zero fail mark in the subject and the student will not be entitled to any further re-evaluation for this course.

The official timetables for the global exams and re-evaluation exams of EUHT StPOL undergraduate subjects (January, April and May) are binding, and no time or date will be modified for any personal reasons (e.g. driving licence exam, private travel, common illness, etc.). In any event, modifications must be previously authorised by the Academic Director and will only be made for very serious reasons of health or force majeure.

The system of Continuous assessment for this course is only possible for students with a minimum of 80% attendance before mid-course and the end of course.

The Continuous Evaluation consists of:

1. Class component (80%):
A. The First Term Exam (written exam) + The Second Term Exam (written exam): 35%
B. The Evaluated Presentations: 35%
C. Class participation: 10%

2. Final Presentation (20%):

Re-sit conditions are as follows:

Partial re-sit
Students who fail the class component will be re-evaluated in a re-sit written exam (reevaluación parcial), which covers all the work studied from November to May and represents 80% of the final mark.
Students who fail the final presentation will be re-evaluated in a re-sit final presentation (reevaluación parcial), which represents 20% of the final mark.
There is no further re-sit for students who fail this evaluation.

Global re-sit
Continuous Assessment students who do not have 80% attendance will be evaluated in the Global Re-sit Exam (reevaluación global), which includes all the work covered from October to May: 80% written exam, 20% final presentation.
There is no further re-sit for students who fail this evaluation.

Both in partial and global re-sit exams, students must obtain a minimum mark of 50% in the written exam and separately a minimum mark of 50% in the final presentation.

FINAL MARKS FOR THE RE-SIT EXAM, BOTH WRITTEN AND ORAL, WILL BE SHOWN AS A PASS ONLY (no matter if the real result is higher than a grade 5.0).

Global assessment

Students who are entitled to go directly to the Global Evaluation are exempt from class and must sit the Global Exam in May. This exam includes all the work covered from October to May. (No evaluation mark for class participation is included.) The Global Exam consists of a written exam 80% and final presentation 20%. Students must obtain a minimum mark of 50% in the written exam and separately a minimum mark of 50% in the final presentation.

The students who fail this Global Exam will be re-evaluated in the Re-sit Exam (reevaluación). Students are only required to re-sit the part they have failed.

Students sitting the Re-sit Exam (reevaluacion), must obtain a minimum mark of 50% in the exam which represents 80% of the final mark and separately a minimum mark of 50% in the final presentation which represents 20% of the final mark.

FINAL MARKS FOR THE RE-SIT EXAM, BOTH WRITTEN AND ORAL, WILL BE SHOWN AS A PASS ONLY (no matter if the real result is higher than a grade 5.0).

Partial grades will not be kept for the following year. This applies to continuous assessment, global assessment and re-sit exams.

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
A student who fails to sit at least one of the evaluations mentioned above (continuous assessment activities and/or global exams) will be qualified “No presentado”.

Avaluació única:

Attendance to the 4th Year course for unregistered students is permitted, but there is no evaluation system for them until they are allowed to enrol on this course.

Modificació del disseny

Modificació de les activitats:
The design of the subject has been made for teaching in UdG scenario 1-Presential.
In the event that scenarios with limited or non-attendance are declared, the degree of virtual teaching will be increased accordingly, through the platform chosen by the school for this purpose. In this case, priority will be given to classroom attendance as far as is reasonably possible and permitted, and the scheduled class sessions will be respected, which will be the contact times for students/teachers to carry out the same activities.

Modificació de l'avaluació:
In the event that the evaluation activities cannot be carried out presentially, these same activities will be carried out on the same day and at the same time as planned, using non-presential channels. Two weeks before the date, the students concerned will be informed of the channel that will be used to carry out the activity.

Tutoria i comunicació:
Tutoring and communication with students will take place in all scenarios as defined in the Tutoring and Communication section.
