Students may opt to follow a final assessment (one final exam) or a continuous assessment system (work and tests at specified times during the academic year). If the final result of the Continuous Assessment is below 5 (the passing mark) students will take the final annual exam (listening, reading, written & oral) in the official calendar date of “convocatòria extraordinària” established by the University (June or July).
Students coursing two or more simultaneous subjects may have difficulties to opt for the continuous assessment of the subjects in question.
In the continuous evaluation system, the Tests are a reduced version of the Cambridge exams to be done in two hours. The Speakings consists of a reduced Cambridge Speaking Tests with 2 parts each of the Speaking Tests in the subject. All these tests and exams are corrected according to Cambridge exams scales.
There is also a Portfolio divided into four parts, two each semester, which consists of some Cambridge writing tasks that students must submit at specified times. These writing tasks are corrected according to Cambridge grading criteria.
Students doing continuous evaluation must do all evaluation tasks from the first and second part of the course to have a final course mark. If a student misses one exam, they will be considered final evaluation students and will sit a unique exam in May/June (convocatòria ordinària). Also, if they miss the last task; then, automatically they go to convocatòria extraordinària.
