I am chemical engineer by the Institut Químic de Sarrià, Barcelona, and Ph. D. in organic chemistry by the University of Würzburg. I also carried out a post-doctoral stay of 4 years at King's College London. I joined the UdG in 2002 as a Ramón y Cajal fellow and a currently full professor, in the area of Physical Chemistry. I was director of the Institut de Química Computacional i Catàlisi from 2007 to 2015. My research is directed at the simulation of chemical excited state processes, with two areas of interest: photochemistry and photophysics of biologically relevant molecules, and design of luminescent compounds. We are also interested in melanin as a smart biomaterial.
