General structure of the bachelor's degrees

Cycles and courses

  • A bachelor's degree has a 4-year curriculum.
  • The double bachelor's degree can to be attained in 5-6 academic years according to which combination of degrees it is (each has its specific itinerary).

Credits

  • The value of each subject is expressed in ECTS credits: European Credit Transfer System .
  • The European Higher Education Area standardises the time students spend working through the ECTS. Each subject defines the time to be devoted to different learning activities.

Subjects

  • Subject areas are classified as basic, compulsory or optional. There is also an area called academic recognition.
  • The basic subjects, determined by the branches of knowledge of the area according to the BOE, are practically the same for all the curricula of the Faculty's degrees. The compulsory subjects are those that each university specifies as such in its curriculum, while optional subjetcs are decided on annually by the Faculty. The recognition subject is worth 6 credits. These credits are chosen freely by students according to the regulations in force every year at the faculty and entire University of Girona, for the purposes of encouraging participation in complementary university activities in regulated education.
