Defence of thesis within the regulation period of 15 work days

Doctorate

Under the regulations, as from the notification of final authorisation for defending theses and of the designation of the board of examiners, the chair will need to summon the defence event within at least 15 work days before the date set for the defence. However, an exemption for this deadline can be requested provided there are justifiable circumstances for it.

Who

Students enrolled on a doctoral programme whose thesis they have been authorised to defend and who wish, because of justifiable circumstances, to request exemption from the 15 work days established by regulations may request it.

Where
The application must be submitted online, through the UdG Online Secretary's Office.
When
The application can be shown when the chair of the board of examiners has informed the School of Doctoral Studies of the data provided for the defence of the doctoral thesis.
How?
To formalise the application students will need to access the Procedures section of the Virtual Secretary's Office, start the generic “Application to the administration” process, choose the “Defending theses before the regulatory 15-work day deadline” option and set out the circumstances justifying the application.

Who
The competent body for resolving the application is the Director of the School of Doctoral Studies
How?
Once the procedure has been completed, the student will receive an electronic notification with a link to the resolution of the application.
The resolution does not represent the end of the administrative process. An appeal may be lodged with the Rector of the University against the resolution within a period of one month following the day of the notification, in accordance with the provisions of articles 121 and in accordance with Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on common administrative procedure for public administrations.
