Cancellation of enrolment due to accident or severe illness

In the event of accident or severe illness, which must be duly justified, preventing a student at the UdG from following academic activity, they can request the global or partial cancellation of enrolment outside the deadlines established for ordinary applications.

The cancellation of enrolment due to accident or severe illness involves the right to the return of the corresponding amounts. In the case of new access students that file this request, they also have the right to deferral to the following academic year.

Who
All UdG students who, because of accident or severe illness, are not able to follow academic activity can request this.
Where
The application must be submitted online, through the UdG Online Secretary's Office.
When

In the case of the total cancellation of enrolment, applications can be submitted up to the date of the call for cancellation deadline of the first semester, except for exceptional cases.


In the case of cancelling subjects enrolled for, applications can be submitted up to the deadline of the call for cancellation of the affected subjects, be it the first or the second semester deadline.

How?

To formalise the application, you must access the “Procedures” section of the Virtual Secretary’s Office, starting the generic procedure "Application to the administration” and choosing the option “Cancellation of enrolment due to accident or severe illness”.


The applicant must specify whether a total or partial annulment of enrolment is being requested, and secondly the subjects to be cancelled.


The new access students who, together with the total cancellation request, are requesting deferral to the following course must indicate this expressly on the application.


In all cases, the application must include an official medical report by the Catalan Health Service or equivalent organisation, showing the start date and the date of diagnosis of the illness, and specifying that the student cannot follow academic activity with normality.

The body competent to deal with requests is, in the case of the teaching given at educational centres integrated with the University of Girona, the dean or director of these centres and, in the case of education given at centres affiliated or linked to the University of Girona, the delegated dean or director.
How?

Once the procedure has been completed, the student will receive an electronic notification with a link to the resolution of the application.


The total cancellation of enrolment due to accident or severe illness entails the right to the return of the amount of the credits enrolled for, in addition to the cost of managing the academic record and of the online teaching and administration services provided. 


The cancellation of subjects enrolled in due to accident or severe illness entails the right to the return of the amount of the credits of the cancelled subjects.


For new access students who have requested this, the total cancellation of enrolment due to accident or severe illness also entails the right to deferral to the following academic course, such that they do not have to do the pre-enrolment again.
