The Bachelor's Degree in Automatic and Industrial Electronic Engineering provides a qualification that offers great opportunities for immediate work, whether in industry, services or civil service or self-employment. Accordingly, it provides students with the knowledge and skills to work in one of today’s most important sectors for economic development.

The degree is based on fundamental subjects like algebra, calculus and physics. These subjects, together with electronics, will give the student the necessary foundations for understanding more industrial-based subjects. Over the course of the degree, subjects will expand into more practical and typical course subjects, which relate to automation, electricity, electronics and control.

It cannot be emphasised enough that the best driver in these studies is motivation. This course is best suited to the person who wants to participate in the development of society, and especially of a modern, competitive industry. The student should be interested in the methods and systems of manipulating and transforming materials and energy, and maintain a curiosity for modern and advanced technology.

Competences

The purpose of this degree is to provide students with the tools to acquire the skills necessary for entering the profession:

  • Drafting, signing, developing and directing projects in the area of industrial engineering.
  • Understanding the basic subjects and technologies that provide them with the skills for learning new methods and theories, and with the versatility for adapting to new situations.
  • Ability to take the initiative in problem-solving, decision making, creativity and critical reasoning, and the ability to communicate and transfer knowledge, as well as skills and aptitudes in the field of industrial engineering.
  • Knowledge on taking measurements, making calculations, appraisals, valuations, studies, reports, work plans and similar activities.
  • Ability to handle specifications, regulations and rules.
  • Ability to analyse and assess the social and environmental impact of technical solutions.
  • Ability to supervise, organise and plan, whether in a corporate context or in other institutions and organisations.
  • Ability to work in a multilingual and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply the legislation applicable to industrial technical engineers.

Access

Access requirements

  • Upper secondary school education. Access: university entrance examinations (PAU), general phase. Admission: weighting of subjects examined in university entrance exam (PAU) linked to the branch of knowledge of Engineering and Architecture.
  • Higher level vocational training cycles (CFGS). Access: all CFGS. Admission: weighting of subjects examined in university entrance exam (PAU) linked to the branch of knowledge of Engineering and Architecture.
  • Over 25s. Must pass the preferential option of the entrance exam: Engineering and Architecture.
  • Over 40s. Appraisal of any professional experience related to the bachelor's degree the applicant wishes to study for and suitability for the course, as demonstrated at interview.
  • Over 45s. Must pass entrance exam and demonstrate suitability at interview.
  • Other special types of access recognized under current regulations.

This degree offers great opportunities for entering the job market in relation to industrial control and automated projects, companies involved in industrial robotics and industrial electronics, as well as in the industry in general, services, civil service and self-employment.

The degree endows students with the professional skill set for drafting, signing, developing and supervising industrial engineering projects, in particular, projects for automated facilities and control of industrial processes, home automation installations, energy facilities and electrical installations.

The strong correlation between the Bachelor's degree in Automation and Industrial Electronics Engineering and the Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering allows you to enrol in the double degree combining the two disciplines. This will allow you to take subjects in either course and in only one more year you could also be awarded a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

The Bachelor's degree in Automation and Industrial Electronics Engineering provides direct access to the Master in Industrial Engineering, which is the only official master's degree that authorises the holder to enter the industrial engineer profession.

Moreover, this degree also opens up paths to other technology and science master's degrees. If you prefer to continue into research, you can apply for the Doctoral Programme in Technology.

Practical work experience

Students have to gain a series of credits, as part of their studies, which correspond to internships in companies or institutions relating to the bachelor’s degree they are studying. The teaching load is determined in accordance with the curriculum.

Bachelor's thesis

To obtain the degree, students have to complete a bachelor's thesis (TFG) which serves to assess the general skills they have acquired over the course of the degree programme and offers a summary of the skills and knowledge they have acquired. The teaching load of the thesis depends on the curriculum of the degree.

Mobility

Students can complete part of their degree programme abroad through the Erasmus programme, which enables them to carry on their studies whilst undertaking an international exchange with academic value in a European university.

They also have access to grants for placements at Spanish universities and those on other continents, thanks to bilateral agreements, the SICUE programme and the expansion of the Erasmus+ Programme.

3. Documents accrediting access to the university:

The University does not require any document to be produced, as such information is accredited by the University's Admissions Office. Students who have sat the university entrance exams (PAU) are advised to download their accreditation documents from the university’s Access Portal in the same year they passed their exams, as they will stop being accessible on 31 December.

Pre-enrolled university students with a university degree not obtained from the UdG

Original and photocopy or certified copy of the degree or its provisional certificate 

Pre-enrolled university students with transferred academic records (students enrolled at other university centres)

Academic certificate featuring courses and qualifications and confirming payment of transfer fees

Students with access from record transfers

The University does not require students to present any documents, as they will have had to produce them beforehand during the transfer-call period

5. Only where a student is not the holder of the bank account paying for their enrolment, a communication/change of bank data form (available on the Forms page) and a photocopy of the bank account holder’s ID.


The documentation must be submitted either when you enrol or before the 19 November at the Academic Secretary’s Office of the teaching centre (except for the large-family card in the event of renewal, which must be presented before 31 December).
