Brief CV

Pere Puigbert was born in 1983 in Ventalló, in the Empordà region. He graduated in Audiovisual and Multimedia Production at the University of Girona ERAM, in Film Production at the University of Northampton, and specialized in Editing for Film, Video and Television at the IDEP Higher Institute of Design in Barcelona. He began his professional activity as an editor. Today he combines his work in editing with his career as an audiovisual artist in the sphere of poetic cinema and his role as a professor in university.

Most of his work seeks to approach natural landscapes, questioning the space occupied by humans. Since its beginnings, he has felt the need to explore the power of gestures over words, moving within the tight limits of formal and narrative minimalism, focusing on showing very local and close worlds to embody universal realities. In 2021, he debuted as a feature film director with the film The wind that moves us, in which he also took on photography, editing and sound work. This film received, among others, the Doc.España award at SEMINCI in Valladolid, and the Latitude award at DocsBarcelona.

His filmography includes works such as Anima Naturae, a series of six audiovisual pieces inspired by the oriental art of haiku, winner of an audiovisual communication award from the Costa Brava Tourist Board, which was redesigned as a museum installation that , travelled over Catalonia and France in 2015. Fluvius, a short film about flows, currents and rivers that was part of an interactive audiovisual installation exhibited in galleries during 2021. Other pieces of his creation are: the medium-length film Fades, screened at DocumentaMadrid, and broadcast on Television of Catalonia (TVC), as well as Tomás Mallol: les meves refleccions, awarded in 2009 with the award for best short film at Girona International Film Festival.
