Descripció:
The subject of Event Management will deal with the basic principles for the organization of events. The students will learn the strategic methology to understand the communicative objectives as well as their clients: corporate, private or institutional. The course will provide the student with the necessary knowledge about the responsibilities of the event organizer; the different actors involved in the events and their role; the various phases that the event will go through, identifying the problems which may occur during the organization of the event developing the capacity to solve them and the protocol that affects the organization of the event.

Elaboration of Academic Projects To be submitted before the end of the semester and must contain all the points that will be given in class. This project must be delivered via Classlife and no other delivery will be accepted unless authorized by the teacher.

The Project of this subject will consist of choosing an event and carrying out its design, planning, promotion and its presentation at class according to the indications given in class and all the other information learn from the articles and books indicated in the bibliography.

Qualificació

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT

The student's final mark will be obtained from the work done throughout the course, weighted as it follows

Final exam (30%): It will take place at the end of the semester (June). In order to allow the student to pass the subject, this value can be under 5. But keep in mind that the result of the average after having added up the project's and presentation's note must be necessarily at least 5.

Indivual / Group Project + Presentation: (35+35%): To be submitted before the end of the semester and must contain all the points that will be given in class. This project must be delivered via Classlife and no other delivery will be accepted unless authorized by the teacher.

The Project of this subject will consist of choosing an event and carrying out its design, planning and promotion, according to the indications given in class and all the other information learn from the articles and books indicated in the bibliography. Depending on the number of students in each group, this activity will be done either individually or in groups.

The value of the written project will be 35% of the final mark
The value of the presentation will be another 35% of the final mark

Continuous Assessment requires the student to write the project, to expose it and take the exam. The lack of any of these three assessment activities will not allow the student to be evaluated this way and therefore, the student will fail the subject and they must take the re-evaluation exam.


RE-EVALUATION

This must be taken if:

1) The Final Mark (Project + Presentation + Exam) of the continuous assessment is less than 5
2) The lack of any of the three (Project + Presentation + Exam) continuous assessment activities
3) The exam of the single assessment is failed

The student will be re-evaluated by taking an Exam which will have the value of 100% of the final mark.

Excel·lent: Responds to prompt with appropriate depth and focus
Notable: Appropriate focus, although could be in more depth
Aprovat: Some attempt to focus
Suspès: Not at all focused and/or very superficial; may not follow prompt given

CATEGORY: Structure
Excel·lent: Clear introduction, smooth transitions between topics, and thoughtful conclusion
Notable: Introduction, transitions, and conclusion present, but could be clearer or smoother
Aprovat: Evident which topics are being discussed, but no introduction, conclusion of transitions
Suspès: Unclear which topics are being discussed and when; transitions non-existent

CATEGORY: Content and application of concepts
Excel·lent: Concepts correctly interpreted; own applications given for each concept discussed; applications are reasonable
Notable: Concepts correctly interpreted; own applications given but may be unreasonable
Aprovat: Some concepts interpreted incorrectly; few applications given or applications are ill-explained
Suspès: Most concepts interpreted incorrectly; no applications given

The less these main points on each category will be followed, the less grade the student is going to get.

MAIN POINTS: Research deals with an important issue in the field of study, includes goals/motivating questions that provide the audience with a sense of the project’s main idea. / Information is accurate and includes a complete explanation of key concepts and theories drawing upon relevant literature, as well as a clear description of the results and the importance of the results.

CATEGORY: Presentation Style
MAIN POINTS: Presentation is a planned conversation, paced for audience understanding. / Speaker presents with minimal reading or use of notes. / Speaker is clearly comfortable in front of the group and can be heard by all.

CATEGORY: Organization
MAIN POINTS: Presentation is clear, logical and organized. Listener can follow line of reasoning. / Thesis is clear, concise and creative. / Conclusions are robust, clearly stated, and supported by data.

CATEGORY: Communication Aids
MAIN POINTS: Communication aids are prepared in a professional manner and enhance the presentation. /Information is organized to maximize audience understanding. / Details are minimized so that main points stand out.

CATEGORY: Verbal Interaction
MAIN POINTS: Consistently clarifies, restates, and responds to questions. / Summarizes when needed. / Answers questions effectively.

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
Anyone who has not submitted any evaluation activities

Avaluació única:
It will only be allowed in some specific cases and always within the deadline specified in the school calendar. These cases include:

1) Erasmus students
2) Repeat students who did not pass the subject in the previous year
3) Students with justified causes and always being evaluated by the General Manager

Deadline to apply for the Single Assessment: 15th February 2021

Requisits mínims per aprovar:
The subject will be passed with a minimum grade of 5

Modificació de les activitats:
All the programmed activities can be carried out in all the above defined settings according to the calendar established at the beginning of the course.

Modificació de l'avaluació:
The student can follow the classes and carry out any of the evaluation activities in online platforms without any problem as it has been successfully tested in the 2019-20 course. For that reason, the evaluation criteria will remain the same as the ones defined before in the 100% presence based course.
