Dades generals

Curs acadèmic:
2023

In exceptional situations, previously defined by the "Comissió de Govern de la Facultat de Medicina", students can be evaluated by a unique assessment. For this subject, students will be requested to do a written essay that should cover the learning objectives of the elective, and a PBL exam (Parts 1 and 2). The written essay will represent 60% of the total grade and the PBL exam will be 40% of the total grade.

Requisits mínims per aprovar:
The students will pass the subject with a minimum qualification of 5.0

Tutoria

Mentoring sessions will be performed weekly during the PBL sessions.
The students can also request virtual one-to-one meetings with their tutor or coordinator. These meetings must be arranged previously by e-mail.

Comunicacio i interacció amb l'estudiantat

Communication and interaction with students will be performed either via e-mail, Moodle or videoconferences.

Observacions

Considering that modern biomedicine is usually reluctant to ponder social issues and concerned mostly with hard biology; this elective is intended to introduce the students to the concept of social medicine, social inequality and well-being, and the eco-social causes of diseasestimulating critical thinking and promoting gender equality. The goal will be to overcome the limitations of the positivistic and reductionist approaches common to both traditional clinical medicine and public health.

Modificació del disseny

Modificació de les activitats:
If we move to a scenario where some or all activities must be carried out remotely, PBL activities, workshops and seminars will take place via a virtual platform.

Modificació de l'avaluació:
The PBL exam will be done online in any scenario. Unless on-site activities are not allowed, a room with internet will be available for those students that request it.

Tutoria i comunicació:
E-mail and Moodle will continue being a valid communication mean. The students can still request one-to-one meetings with their tutor or coordinator, which could be on-site or on-line. In any case they must be arranged previously by e-mail.
The institutional e-mail, which appears in the elective's information, is validated as a communication tool between teachers and students.
