Qualificació

Evaluation is done through two main activities: a lab report and a final exam.
Attendance to laboratory exercises is mandatory to pass the course.

The final mark results from:

LAB REPORT (LR): This activity consists of answering questions about experimental results obtained during the correspondent laboratory exercises (Small-size Groups). The mark obtained in this activity contributes 25% to the final mark. This activity cannot be retaken.

PAPER DISCUSSION (PD): This activity consists of an exam with several questions related to the papers discussed in class. This activity contributes to the final mark by 15%. Students that get marks below 4 must retake the PD activity.

EXAM (EX): This exam encompasses all the theoretical content of the subject (Large-size Groups). The mark of this exam must be higher than (or equal to) 4 to contribute 60% to the final mark. Students that get marks below 4 must retake the exam.

The final mark results from the sum of both activities weighted by their contribution as follows: 25% LR + 15% DP + 60% EX. To pass the course, students should get a mark higher than (or equal to) 5.

REMEDIAL ACTIVITIES: Students that get a final mark <4 in the exam or <4 in the PD will be able to retake these activities. The laboratory exercise report cannot be retaken. Both retaken activities will have the same evaluation criteria and conditions set for the previous ones.

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
To pass the course, students have to:

a) attend practical sessions (Lab exercises).
b) submit the Lab Report in due time.
c) complete the paper discussion exam
c) complete the final exam.

Students not attending the practical sessions and not submitting any of the evaluation activities will be considered as NON-PRESENTED.

Avaluació única:
This evaluation will consist on a single exam including questions related to all contents of the subject, namely: theroretical content, scientific papers discussed in class, and lab exercises. The number of questions for each part will be proportional to the contribution of each part to the final mark (e.g. 6 theoretical questions, 2 questions related to papers, and 2 on lab exercises).

Requisits mínims per aprovar:
To pass the course students should get a final mark higher than (or equal to) 5.

Tutoria

1) Presential scenario:

– Personal tutorial meetings will be done at the Aulari Comú after setting a date with the student.

2) Semi-presential and distance class scenario:

– Personal tutorial meetings will be done on-line through specific applications (BlackBoard Collaborate, Google Meets).
– Personal communications will be done using electronic mail as usual.

3) Vulnerable students or students under temporal confinement will be attended as in scenario 2

Comunicacio i interacció amb l'estudiantat

Communication with students will be done using two platforms: a) The Forum in the Moodle for general aspects and notifications; and b) electronic mail for personal communications.

Both systems will be used in all scenarios.

Modificació del disseny

Modificació de les activitats:
1) Semi-presential scenario:

– Theoretical classes will be done following the recommendations of the Faculty regarding the attendance of students. By today, this involves splitting students into two groups: Group A that will attend the classes at the Faculty (presential activity); and Group B, which will attend the classes on-line using specific telematic channels (TEAMS or Google Meets). Both groups will alternate on a daily basis.

– All communications with students will be done using the News Forum in the Moodle and by electronic mail.

– Lab exercises will be maintained as usual except in case of a lockdown. In the case of temporal confinement, the lab exercises will be substituted by an on-line class discussing results from laboratory exercises.

2) Distance teaching:

Since no attendance of students is expected under this scenario, all classes will be done using online channels (Blackboard Collaborate). Communication and lab-exercises will be done as in the semi-presential scenario (see above).

Modificació de l'avaluació:
Semi-presential and distance teaching scenarios

Since no presential attendance of students is expected under temporal confinement or a complete lockdown, evaluation activities will be modified as follows:

1) Lab exercises will be evaluated through the completion of a report that will consist of five questions regarding the datasets from One-Step Growth experiments. This activity accounts for 25% of the final mark and it can not be retaken.

2) Final exam: It will consist in a 10-question exam covering all aspects of the subject except the lab-exercises. The document will be distributed online through a specific activity in the moodle platform. Students will have four hours to complete and deliver the exam through moodle. Corrected exams will be sent to students using the same platform. This activity can be retaken if the mark is <4. The retaken exam will follow the same regulations as the normal exam.

In both cases, the contribution of each activity on the final mark will be the same as in the normal scenario, that is, final exam 75% and lab-exercises report 25%. Only the final exam can be retaken.

Tutoria i comunicació:
Communication with students will be done using two platforms:
a) The Forum in the Moodle for general aspects and notifications; and b) electronic mail for personal communications.

Both systems will be used in all scenarios.
