The University of Perpignan Via Domitia first organized the Transborder Doctoral Days four years ago. They have been an unprecedented success and have contributed much to strengthen the effectiveness of the collaboration between French and Catalan universities in the Catalan transborder region.
As agreed to at that time, the organization of these transborder days alternates between each country. Last year they were held in Canet en Roussillon, where our doctoral students enjoyed a very exceptional week.
This year it is the University of Girona’s turn to organize the Doctoral Days during the period 14-18 May in a hotel near Girona.
The Transborder Doctoral Days are residential seminars intended to prepare young doctoral students for the post-thesis stage, and to help them get started in professional careers in both the private and the public sector.
The concept of "Transborder Doctoral Days" has led to greater support for the diversity, the multidisciplinarity and the multiculturality of the candidates and presenters, to an enrichment of discussions, innovations and projects, and to a broadening of the field of possible employment at the European level.
An added value of these seminars is linguistic immersion since the official language of the event is English.
