Avaluació i qualificació

In-class Task-based learning activities Students are expected to actively participate in all class sessions (60 hours) doing a variety of activities either individually, in pairs, in small groups or with the entire class as a whole. 10 No
Out of class Reading Activities Students are expected to read weekly articles from their Worbook (LIFE Units 7-12), Textbook (LIFE Units 7-12) or the press (put up on the Moodle). These readings are subject to the Reading into Writing program which entails specific write-ups of material read. These readings are considered integral to the out-of-classroom participation and is taken into account for the student's overall mark. 3
Out of class Writing Activities Students are expected to practice their writing competence outside of the classroom. These activities will be evaluated and counted towards their out of class activities participation mark of 10%. Students of Avançat 2 are expected to write 6 Tourism module writings, plus written summaries of articles read in their textbook, workbook or the press. 4
Out of class Listening Activities Students are expected to do Listening activities outside the classroom. These activities are subject to evaluation towards the 10% out of class activities mark. Activities include 6 hours of workbook listening (30 minutes per week) plus 2 hours (30 hours total per semester) of weekly audio or audiovisual homework of their choice in English VO and which they will keep a log of (choices include: series,documentaries, films, music, YouTube, etc.). 3
Oral Presentations The oral presentations are evaluated on fluency and coherence, vocabulary range and control, grammatical range and accuracy and pronunciation, intonation and intelligibility. Students will do three oral presentations throughout the course, two lasting 5 minutes and a final oral exchange with the instructor lasting approximately 20 minutes. 20
Reading Tests Students will take 3 reading tests throughout the semester in order to evaluate their competence in this skill. 20
Writing Tests Students will take 3 In-class writings which will be evaluated on overall impression, register and task achievement, cohesion, fluency and organization, vocabulary range and control, and grammatical range and accuracy. 20
Listening Tests Students will take 3 listening tests throughout the semester in order to evaluate their competence in this skill. 20

Qualificació

Students' progress and achievement is evaluated through a system of Continuous Evaluation which assigns the following weight to each ot the required activities:

*Students are expected to attend all 60 hours of class and turn in all homework activities.

STUDENTS MUST ACHIEVE A MINIMUM OF 5/10 IN ALL AREAS AND AN OVERALL MINIMUM MARK OF 50% OUT OF 100% TO PASS TGE COURSE.

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
Students who have done neither Continuous Evaluation nor the single-session evaluation will receive the mark "No presentat".

Avaluació única:
Exceptionally and at the individual student's request within the UdG's established timeline, students can request to do a single-session evaluation which consists in a 4-part, 4-hour exam evaluating student competence in Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Writing Competency and Speaking Competency. With each skill weighing 25%- students are required to pass each area of competence with a score of 5 out of 10 and an overall total of 50% of the exam points. Here is the breakdown of the points of the Single-session Evaluation:

Writing 25 points (2 Writings)
Speaking 25 points (9-minute individual)
Listening 25 points (2-3 Listenings)
Reading 25 points (2-3 Readings)

Requisits mínims per aprovar:
Per considerar superada l’assignatura, caldrà obtenir una qualificació mínima de 5.0

Tutoria

Students should feel free to contact their instructors for individual help or tutorials related to the course. This should be done by addressing their instructor via their official UdG email address. In addition, the instructor will invite students to tutorials during the course to discuss their progress.

Students can communicate with their language instructor via the course Moodle as well as through their instructor's official UdG email address.

Observacions

Per cursar aquesta assignatura l'alumne hauria haver consolidat prèviament el nivell B2.1 d'anglès. L'assisstència amb regularitat (100%) és molt important donat que les classes són participatives i que el temari s’avança diàriament.

Students should have a solid B2.1 level of English to register for this course. Regular class attendance (100%)is a priority as classes involve active participation and subject matter is cumulative.

Modificació del disseny

Modificació de les activitats:
Durant les hores de classe previstes, a través de Blackboard, es realitzaran les classes de manera virtual amb el support de documents penjats al Moodle i enviats via WhatsApp group chat. Es mantindrà el calendari de les activitats establertes i programades (syllabus).


Modificació de l'avaluació:
Les activitats d’avaluació previstes en el disseny de l’assignatura es mantenen en el ben entès que totes es realitzaran mitjançant vies no presencials.

A través del correu electrònic del instructor de l'assignatura, es podrá concertar tutories virtuals.

Comunicació
Abans de l'hora de classe, es penjarà al Moodle les activitats de la setmana per poder seguir l'assignatura. Aquestes activitats seran els mateixos establerts en el calendari programat (syllabus). A l'hora d'iniciar classe, s'enviarà la primera activitat via WhatsApp i els alumnes respondran per constatar la seva presència a la classe virtual (assistència).
